Audemars Piguet Paints Time in the Blue of the Night Sky

Inspired by the nocturnal luminescence of La Vallée de Joux, Audemars Piguet reinterprets the “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” tone in a new ceramic that envelops three references across the Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore collections.

This blue — originally conceived in 1972 for the first Royal Oak — returns as a tribute to the House’s history and to the region that gave birth to its watchmaking tradition. Now rendered in a material as technically demanding as ceramic, the color does more than evoke a landscape: it demonstrates the Maison’s mastery in uniting heritage with innovation.

Light, resilient, and notoriously difficult to master, ceramic becomes the canvas for a flawless finish in which light plays across satin and polished surfaces alike. Each piece is worked with extreme precision — treated as one would precious metal — revealing an obsession with detail that only true artisanal craft can deliver.

Among the standout references, the Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked in blue ceramic pushes the art of skeletonization to its outer limits, its rose gold details offering a striking counterpoint to the monochromatic architecture. Alongside it, the 42 mm Royal Oak Offshore presents a sporting aesthetic that holds technical precision and poetic restraint in equal measure. And for those drawn to a more commanding visual presence, the 43 mm Royal Oak Offshore combines ceramic and steel in a piece that appears sculpted from the night itself.

More than a color, “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” is an aesthetic declaration: the sky captured on the wrist, rendered in ceramic.
