Sakura on Wheels: Haas’s Tribute to Japan in Formula 1

The American Haas outfit has once again claimed the spotlight, unveiling a special livery for the 2025 Formula 1 season. For the iconic Japanese Grand Prix at the celebrated Suzuka circuit, Haas has chosen to pay tribute to the cherry blossom — known in Japan as Sakura. Led by Ayao Komatsu, the team is seizing the occasion to express its deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of its host country.
The VF-25 retains its signature black and white livery, but with a striking distinction: pink accents and exquisite cherry blossom motifs adorning the sidepod and front wing. The car also carries Japanese script, lending the package an even more authentic and celebratory character.
“After a very successful weekend in Shanghai, we are delighted to be coming to Japan,” said Komatsu, underscoring the singular technical demands that Suzuka places on both drivers and engineers. The team arrives with its focus firmly on extracting the full potential of the VF-25, as both drivers pursue crucial championship points.

The Japanese Grand Prix, scheduled for April 4, 5, and 6, is far more than another entry on the calendar — it is a proving ground for competitiveness at the highest level. After a disappointing start in Australia, Haas recovered with conviction, breaking into the top ten and banking 14 points in China.
Haas’s singular approach goes beyond branding — it sets a standard for how Formula 1 teams can meaningfully engage with local culture. The combination of sport, cultural reverence, and a meticulously crafted aesthetic promises to leave a lasting impression on every fan who watches the VF-25 take to the track this weekend.
