Mexico’s 968 trade fairs, congresses, and exhibitions generate an annual economic impact of 794 billion pesos — proof that personal contact remains indispensable in a digital world.

In a landscape increasingly defined by digitalization, trade fairs and exhibitions continue to stand as a fundamental pillar of economic growth in Mexico. According to Julio César Bojórquez, president of the Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales en Ferias, Exposiciones, Congresos y Convenciones (Amprofec), the 794-billion-peso figure generated by these events encompasses not only direct economic spillover and tourism impact, but also the sales closed by participating vendors.

The numbers do not stop there: exhibition floors generate approximately 15.22 million business opportunities each year, of which 3.04 million convert into confirmed sales during the events themselves. Bojórquez notes that, according to a recent survey, 63.05% of respondents confirmed that for every day of exhibition, 84.54 new business opportunities are generated.

To make the most of these opportunities, the Amprofec president offered a set of pointed recommendations: deploy the strongest salespeople to manage stands and keep the space consistently active. He also emphasized leveraging social media to promote the company’s participation well in advance, and offering compelling promotions throughout the event.

Within this context, a session on “Marketing in the Construction Industry” also took place at a Cintermex-organized gathering aimed at maximizing exhibitor results. Edgar Medina, coordinator of Expo Constructo, noted that the Monterrey-based event is celebrating its 26th edition and has served as a platform connecting buyers and suppliers of construction products for more than 30 years. He underscored the importance of institutional collaboration with organizations such as the Cámara Mexicana de la Industria de la Construcción and the Asociación Mexicana de Concreteros Independientes.

The essence of Expo Constructo lies in facilitating commercial connections between producers and their clients. The event’s ambitions extend well beyond the local — it actively pursues international reach, as evidenced by the recent addition of a Chinese national pavilion.
