A Cup of Coffee with Purpose

Every sip of coffee can carry a story. In the case of Starbucks México, that story begins in the highlands of Chiapas, on the slopes of Veracruz, and among the coffee groves of Puebla — where more than 20,000 producers have found in “Todos Sembramos Café” a seed of genuine hope. Now in its 11th edition, this emblematic initiative continues to write new chapters of rural resilience while inviting every customer to become an active participant in deep and lasting change.

Since 2014, the program has donated more than 4.8 million coffee plants resistant to coffee leaf rust, with 2025 projections reaching 5.6 million. This year’s goal is to donate 815,000 new plants to smallholder farmers across the three states that account for more than 75 percent of Mexico’s national production. Yet “Todos Sembramos Café” extends well beyond the distribution of seedlings: it transforms lives. Through partnerships with the Starbucks Farmer Support Center, Fundación Alsea, and Universidad Autónoma Chapingo, the program promotes regenerative agriculture, installs weather monitoring stations, distributes ecomills that reduce water consumption by up to 90 percent, and provides technical training and access to health services for rural women.

What makes this transformation most remarkable is that it is built on empathy. Every initiative is co-created by listening to the genuine needs of the communities it serves — ensuring that the impact reaches beyond the fields and into the heart of family life.

Through August 4th, anyone can take part: for every bag of whole-bean coffee purchased — including Chiapas, Pike Place, or Colombia — Starbucks México will donate one plant. Customers may also contribute with a voluntary ten-peso donation in store or through the Starbucks Rewards® app.

Because behind every cup there are dreams, effort, and earth. With “Todos Sembramos Café,” the simple act of drinking coffee becomes a gesture of solidarity, sustainability, and commitment to Mexico.
