Tequila: 85 Brands Receive Mexico’s Official ‘Hecho en México’ Seal

At the heart of Jalisco, El Tequila is once again staking its claim — this time not only through flavor and history, but through certification. Sixteen producers have received the official “Hecho en México” seal, endorsed by the Secretaría de Economía and backed by the Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT), authorizing its use across 85 brands of Mexico’s most emblematic spirit.
The distinction is far from symbolic: it represents origin, quality, sustainability, and national pride. It arrives at a moment when tequila has positioned itself not merely as a drink, but as a cultural, economic, and competitive ambassador for Mexico on the world stage.
Aurelio López Rocha, President of the CRT, underscored the significance of this certification’s relaunch. His message was unambiguous: “The Tequila Denomination of Origin is, by its very nature, a proud bearer of this distinction.”

The “Hecho en México” seal is awarded at no cost to individuals and companies whose products meet rigorous standards of origin, domestic production, and sustainability. Its presence on a label functions as both a commercial and cultural passport — positioning the product for success in domestic and international markets alike.
Tequila bearing this seal is ratified as a living symbol of Mexican identity: from the agave fields of Jalisco to the world.
