PROYECTO MATI: WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

In a global landscape where women continue to shoulder the majority of domestic caregiving responsibilities while playing an increasingly decisive role in national economic development, Proyecto MATI was born — an initiative conceived by Corporativa de Fundaciones A.C. to help Mexican women achieve lasting economic and personal empowerment.

Since its founding in 2012, MATI has been committed to strengthening the skills and capabilities of women living in conditions of economic vulnerability, equipping them to build and sustain a microenterprise — and through it, to meaningfully improve the quality of life for themselves and their families. This is achieved through a formative model for women entrepreneurs, distinguished above all by a participatory methodology built around each participant’s specific context and needs.

The program’s impact is measurable and real. Approximately 59% of participants have succeeded in increasing their monthly income through their ventures, with returns ranging from 10% to 50% — translating into monthly earnings of between $500 and $5,000 pesos. Nearly 5% have gone further still, establishing monthly profits in excess of $10,000 pesos, an income that has become the primary financial foundation for their families.

Yet the full story of Proyecto MATI lies beyond the numbers — in the processes, the intimate decisions, and the quiet transformations that unfold when a woman takes control of her own life’s direction.
