Don’t Sacrifice Junior Talent for AI

With rare clarity, Matt Garman, CEO of Amazon Web Services, has stated his position: replacing junior talent with artificial intelligence is not a sustainable strategy. According to Garman, junior employees represent not only an accessible investment but a genuinely adaptive workforce — one capable of rapidly mastering new technological tools.

Garman warned that bypassing the next generation of professionals could fundamentally compromise the long-term development of any organization:

“What happens in ten years when you don’t have people who have learned anything?”

In his view, developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound engineering practices remains essential in environments where AI automates tasks but cannot replicate human judgment.

The call is not simply to hire young talent — it is to build a culture in which training and professional growth are treated as core business imperatives.

Artificial intelligence can amplify human capability. But it cannot replace the human foundation on which innovation is built.
