Luxury meets sustainability: Denza, BYD‘s luxury electric vehicle marque, makes its European debut with the striking Z9GT — arriving at the height of Milan’s Brera Design Week.

Anticipation was palpable in Italy’s fashion capital, the city Denza has chosen to officially announce its European entry. Positioning itself as far more than a Chinese brand, the company is making a deliberate play for European buyers with automobiles that fuse forward-thinking design and advanced technology. Its flagship, the Denza Z9GT, challenges established conventions with a distinctly European aesthetic and performance figures that command attention: fully electric variants producing up to 1,000 horsepower, with a zero-to-100 km/h sprint of just 3.4 seconds.

At 5.18 meters in length and nearly 2 meters wide, the Z9GT distinguishes itself with a shooting brake body — an elegant silhouette that recalls the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, and one that speaks equally to lovers of beauty and performance. The plug-in hybrid variant is no less compelling, covering the zero-to-100 km/h benchmark in 3.6 seconds while delivering the efficiency and sustainability credentials that define responsible luxury mobility.

Innovation and expansion: Denza makes its mark on the European market. The Z9GT will not arrive alone. The D9 minivan — positioned to compete directly with the Lexus LM — is set to follow, and reports suggest a third model is in the pipeline: an SUV drawing on the X or N8 platforms already available in China. This expansion is underpinned by Denza’s announced commitment to refining its lineup under the intelligent e3 platform, a signal of the brand’s long-term ambitions.

Denza marks its fifteenth anniversary this year, its origins rooted in a founding collaboration between BYD and Mercedes-Benz. From its first launch in 2014 to a comprehensive brand reinvention in 2021, the evolution has been considerable. Stella Li, BYD’s Executive Vice President, made no effort to conceal her enthusiasm: “We are delighted to introduce Denza to European customers, beginning here in Milan.” That sense of mission is reflected not only in her words, but in every design decision and technological commitment the brand brings to market.

Denza’s European future looks genuinely promising. With a clear focus on marrying European design sensibility with sustainable technology, the brand is determined to leave an indelible mark on the continent’s automotive landscape. A true revolution is underway — and with its arrival in Spain before the year is out, Denza is not simply entering the market. It is redefining what luxury mobility can be.
