AI in SMEs: A New Competitive Era

In Mexico, artificial intelligence has moved beyond promise to become an active engine of transformation. Today, SMEs and micro-enterprises are adopting it as a strategic tool to compete in an increasingly demanding market.
According to the QS World Future Skills Index, Mexico ranks among the top ten countries for AI adoption growth — a 965% increase across 362 companies. Some 89% of business leaders are already considering integrating digital agents, surpassing the global average.

Data from Nubiral estimates that AI can raise productivity by as much as 40% and improve profitability by 38%. IDC FutureScape projects that organizations adopting AI strategically this year will grow by 11%.
AI is not merely automating processes — it is redefining business models, expanding operational capabilities, and sharpening market responsiveness. Fifty-four percent of Mexican SMEs already deploy it to enhance the customer experience, and 51% to optimize efficiency.
While challenges such as training costs persist, a growing digital infrastructure is facilitating adoption even among micro-enterprises. With 78% of companies actively seeking to incorporate AI, the competitive future of Mexico’s SME sector is increasingly inseparable from this technology.
