Power and Design: The New War Truck Roars

When we think of the Jeep, most recall its defining role in World War II and its unmistakable presence in the Vietnamese jungle. What fewer people know is that many of these iconic vehicles spent more than five decades in a state of suspended animation — rusting quietly on the outskirts of Saigon.
It was this forgotten inventory that inspired Vietnamese firm Van Daryl to embark on an ambitious mission: to rescue and reinvent them — transforming these long-dormant machines into exclusive adventure vehicles that fuse history with contemporary engineering.
Van Daryl’s restoration process begins with a complete disassembly, in which worn original bodywork is replaced by aluminum structures that preserve the essence of the classic design while introducing a decisively modern character. Independent suspension and forged alloy wheels substantially enhance off-road performance. The War Truck‘s new dimensions — 4.2 meters in length and 1.6 meters in width — reflect a precise synthesis of classic Jeep proportions and current engineering, delivering an off-road experience without equal.
Among the most striking changes is the redesign of the vehicle’s front fascia: the iconic seven-slot grille has been modernized with a pixel LED lighting system, lending the machine an almost futuristic presence. The muscular silhouette is further defined by a more upright windshield and a minimalist front bumper — details that reinforce the War Truck‘s unmistakable aesthetic. At the rear, the iconic spare wheel is retained, paying elegant and functional tribute to the vehicle’s military heritage.
The spartan military interior of the original has given way to genuinely luxurious appointments: calfskin leather, maple wood panels, and a digital instrument cluster fully configurable to each owner’s taste. Yet this transformation does nothing to compromise the War Truck‘s essential character. The classic 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine remains — a deceptively modest unit that, thanks to the vehicle’s featherweight 1,070 kg kerb weight, is capable of propelling it to 161 km/h.
The War Truck is far more than a vehicle — it is a statement of intent for those who seek adventure with a measure of exclusivity. With a base price of €72,800 (excluding taxes and shipping), it represents a singular opportunity to participate in a narrative where past and present are inextricably woven together.
