The work titled “Where Is Alice?” by Marea Danza presents itself as a contemporary reinterpretation of Lewis Carroll’s celebrated tale. This classic, which has captured the imagination of generations, receives a fresh reimagining that invites reflection on the complexities of today’s digital world. Accessible to the entire family, the production ventures into themes of pressing relevance — among them hyperconnectivity and the social pressures children face in the modern age.

The Valencia-based company, celebrating its tenth anniversary, demonstrates through this production how art can adapt to contemporary reality while preserving the essential spirit of flamenco and Spanish dance. The dancers portray a modern Alice who falls into a world saturated with screens and social media — a passage that becomes a metaphor for the identity struggles of today’s childhood.

The work emerged from the creativity of a group of gifted artists who have forged an unshakable bond of trust. It is that mutual support that has kept the company relevant within a fiercely competitive cultural landscape — though the search for recognition and resources remains a persistent challenge on their path.

In this way, Marea Danza‘s celebration with “Where Is Alice?” is an invitation not only to experience art in its purest form, but to engage with the questions our present moment demands. As Paula Sebastián puts it, “trust is the key” — and with it, Marea Danza continues to make history, one flamenco step at a time.
