Milan has lost one of its most celebrated emblems. Giorgio Armani, founder and creative director of the House that bears his name — known the world over as Re Giorgio — permanently altered the course of fashion history.

His vision redefined tailoring by introducing the unstructured jacket, liberating both men and women from the rigid constraints of formal dress. From 1975 onward, his brand expanded far beyond fashion, extending into fragrances, furniture, hotels, and experiences that made luxury a global language. In 2024, the group recorded revenues exceeding €2.3 billion — all of it shaped, until the end, by his direct creative authority.

Armani worked until his final days. As recently as June, his absence from the Milan runways — the first in decades — had sparked speculation about his health. His last interview revealed the clarity with which he had come to terms with his life: he confessed that his only regret was not having devoted more time to family and friends.

The legacy of Giorgio Armani cannot be measured in collections alone. It lives in the way he transformed the world’s perception of Made in Italy. Figures from design, politics, and culture have remembered him as a singular reference point — one who united restraint and excellence with an unwavering sense of discipline.
