Spain Deepens Its Commitment to Tequila Culture with New Distintivo T Certifications

Tequila’s presence in Spain continues to advance through a certification strategy that prioritizes quality, expertise, and professional standards. In this context, 29 Spanish establishments have received the Distintivo T, a recognition awarded by the Consejo Regulador del Tequila A.C. to venues that meet rigorous standards in the handling, service, and promotion of this Mexican denomination of origin.
The awards were presented during an institutional tour held in conjunction with the Feria Internacional de Turismo 2026 and led by Aurelio López Rocha, president of the regulatory body. One of the central ceremonies took place at the Fundación Casa de México en España, an institution that has long been an active collaborator in the international projection of the Tequila denomination of origin.

The Distintivo T is awarded to hotels, restaurants, bars, and hospitality venues that demonstrate a sustained commitment to staff training, respect for the production process, and the accurate communication of tequila’s origins. This approach strengthens consumer confidence and contributes to an experience that is fully aligned with the identity of the product.
The certified establishments are located in cities including Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Granada, A Coruña, Almería, and Jerez. With these additions, the total number of Distintivo T certifications awarded internationally rises to 156 — reinforcing tequila’s structured presence in strategic markets and its standing as Mexico’s first and most globally recognized denomination of origin.
